This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 11:30 am–10 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (619) 393-5557. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, noirsushi.com.

San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Diego is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Noir is a convenient downtown San Diego spot with a fun, casual atmosphere that works well for a quick bite or meeting up with friends. Service was genuinely greatβ€”friendly, attentive, and especially accommodating when it came to substitutions and customizations. They were happy to adjust our orders without making it feel like an inconvenience, which I really appreciated. The sushi itself was more of a mixed experience. There’s a reasonable amount of creativity in the Japanese fusion rolls, and some of the combinations are interesting, but the fish quality felt fairly average and the flavors overall didn’t quite come together enough to make the food memorable. Nothing was particularly bad, but at a sushi restaurant, the quality of the fish is ultimately what matters most to me. The atmosphere and service are definitely the stronger points here. Good vibes, a convenient downtown location, and an easy place to stop in and socializeβ€”but based on the food alone, there are too many stronger sushi options around San Diego for me to give Noir more than two stars.

I came here for my birthday meal with my friends and had a wonderful experience! I was visiting from the LA area and my friends who live in San Diego had come here before. The raved about this place and said it was a must-go if we were to get sushi. We made a reservation on Resy which made it really easy for us to schedule in advance. The restaurant is clean, beautiful, and has an elegant casual atmosphere. Our server David is excellent at what he does from being attentive to giving good recommendations based off our interests. He also cracked jokes with our table which was very entertaining The food was absolutely amazing! I can taste the freshness of the fish. The flavors from the sashimi to the rolls were very well balanced. The plating. We had their daily special oysters which were soooooo good and refreshing after a hot day. The celebration sashimi platter was a lot of food and bigger than what I expected. We also ordered a few rolls: Serrano Sunset, Flame on 5th, and the Samurai Shell. The kinmedai (golden eye snapper - daily special) and the hotate scallop nigiri were my top favorites and 100% worth it. Overall experience was 10/10. Highly recommend and will definitely co

Food and service were outstanding. Great fish quality. Our waiter (David G.) was amazing as well. I’ve never seen someone so knowledgeable or passionate about fish and Japanese spirits.

Delicious sushi, very fresh ingredients and excellent flavors. The service is very attentive and great with suggestions. Jo was awesome and we loved her! Everything was so delicious! We got the crispy rice, salmon skin salad and spicy garlic edamame, all were a hit. The rolls were incredible as well!

Returned to Noir Sushi in the Gaslamp after a previous visit and it absolutely lived up to the memory. Consistency is hard to find with sushi restaurants, but Noir delivered again. The sashimi platter was extremely fresh with generous cuts and great variety, and the specialty rolls were well balanced without being overly heavy or drowned in sauce. Everything tasted clean and high quality, and the presentation was beautiful from start to finish. The sake selection was also excellent and paired really well with the food. Great atmosphere, attentive service, and an overall experience that feels elevated without being pretentious. Definitely one of my favorite sushi spots in San Diego and a place I’ll continue coming back to.
